The duo format once again proves to be a deliberate artistic choice in this new project by composer and performer Massimo Giuntoli, who presents, together with U-Gene, a programme specifically conceived for this distinctly “plugged” formation.

Although affinities with avant-rock and Rock in Opposition were already emerging in his acoustic projects, the instrumentation here engages more explicitly with rock idioms from a variety of traditions. This is achieved despite the absence of bass and drums, which at the same time opens the door to neo-chamber reinterpretations of twentieth-century music within the “classical” sphere.
